2020 has taught us new lessons on emergency and community. We have had to rely on each other in ways never imagined. Caretakers of the most vulnerable members of society had to protect themselves and the individuals they service. A major part of making sure they are confident doing their jobs is having the proper protection to work. In the community of givers, United Way of NYC has helped ARC secure personal protective equipment by giving a grant specifically for COVID emergency supplies. Having these supplies has helped staff continue to work during the pandemic. “It has made me feel more comfortable because masks and sanitizer are always available.” says Anne Dorcely, a medical coordinator for ARC. Anne stressed the fact that she has access to all the protective supplies she needs to continue her duties. With United Way of NYC’s help, not only has Anne be able to continue to do her job effectively but almost 250 employees are able to keep themselves and their families safe.
