With summer at its peak, we are all beginning to settle into a new normal.  We wear masks to buy food. We stand six fit apart to hold conversations. And, at ARC, after over 60 years of service we continue to make sure every individual connected to the agency is protected. 

With a generous grant from The New York Community Trust we have been able to adapt our residences and Day Habilitation program to fit the new normal. Having many of the participant families and some of the residential buildings located in the top 10 zip codes most impacted by COVID-19 in New York City, the ability to continue to serve in a safe capacity became paramount. 

With this grant we were able to acquire masks and digital thermometers for our residencies which helped keep families visiting safely. And while unable to meet in person, we were also able to purchase hand held devices for every participant who needed one in our Day Habilitation program, giving the opportunity to maintain tele-health conferencing and social interaction.  Since ARC reaches into the communities it serves to provide social, educational, and rehabilitative services to over 400 clients and their families these important items meant the continuation of services. As the world changes we look forward to continue safely serving many wonderful individuals.
