ARC’s Tribute to Black History Month

ARC’s Tribute to Black History Month

“Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.” – Martin Luther King Jr.

In honor of Black History month and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, two of our program attendees wrote poems inspired by the great Martin Luther King Jr. At ARC we support art in every form, so we are sharing these beautiful write-ups with you today.

Today is a Day

Today is a day we all sing in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. poem about MLK
He was a legend to people.
He was well respected to some of them, mostly all.
He was his words, no matter of race or creed.
He cares about others’ well being.
His speeches touch the hearts of everyone: men, women and children.
He encourages all not to be enemies.
He fought with love, not guns.
He changed people’s minds and their hearts.
But some did not like his words; he was taken away to a better world.
Yet his dream lives on. Martin Luther King Jr. did not live long, but his dream and Spirit are Free at Last.
Martin Luther King, you are a Legend to All.

We Thank You

poem about MLKWe thank you for the Civil Rights Movement you had created for the African Americans,
Regardless of their race or color of their skin.

We thank you for the path of freedom that you put for us,
to have the free right, unity and justice.

We thank you for your speeches that teach us,
we can be equal with other races.

You will be forever remembered for your famous speeches
and your love for the African American.

Thank you Dr. King
