ARTS@ARC’s First Musical Performance

Arts@ARC had their first concert on October 17 at the Brooklyn Music School.

ARTS@ARC participants played instruments and snag for family and friends. The group performed seven songs:

  • Gone – N*SYNC
  • Maria Maria – Carlos Santana
  • Firework – Katy Perry
  • Sweet Dreams – Eurythmics
  • Fresh Prince of Bel Air Theme Song
  • Build Me Up Buttercup – The Foundations
  • I Want It That Way – The Backstreet Boys

The concert lasted a little under an hour and was organized by ARTS@ARC’s new music therapist Melissa Guttman. Guttman joined the program in May of 2019.

Our Board President Jamie Blackman attended, as well as other Board members, family and friends. Since becoming Board President, Blackman has stressed the importance of music therapy and artistic outlets. His vision developed the ARTS@ARC program.

ARC piano and bass guitar players

Some participants were braving the stage for the first time. Denise, our ARC advocate and program individual, is currently learning bass guitar. This was her first bass guitar debut. Christopher also debuted his musical talents, playing the piano and drums. Huge thanks to Melissa Guttman for leading the development and teaching around music.
